What happens if my heater is too small?

An undersized heater takes longer to reach temperature (60+ minutes vs 30–40) and may never reach 80°C (176°F) in larger rooms. The stones also won't hold enough heat for good löyly.

What happens if my heater is too powerful?

The sizing rule

Manufacturers specify a room volume range (in m³) for each heater. The general rule of thumb:

Stone capacity: why it matters for sizing

Stones store heat and release it as steam when you pour water. More stones = softer, longer-lasting steam — but the heater needs enough kW to heat them. A 9 kW heater with 55 kg of stones (HUUM Drop 9) produces noticeably softer steam than a 9 kW heater with 15 kg (VEVOR 9 kW), even at the same room volume.
